Impression : A show of creative art

In July 2025, the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata played host to “Impression”, an evocatively curated group exhibition featuring the works of Netai Banik and Paresh Saha. Beyond a mere showcase, it offered an immersive encounter with contemporary sensibilities rooted in Bengal’s artistic traditions.

Held in the Academy , the show spanned two connected galleries. Clean white walls enhanced the vibrancy of the artworks, and directional lighting created dramatic contrasts that emphasized texture and form. The spatial layout invited viewers to wander organically—discovering dialogues and counterpoints between the distinct styles of Banik and Saha.

A dedicated contributor to Kolkata’s visual arts community, Paresh Saha has been featured in major city galleries, including previous group shows at Academy of Fine Arts. His paintings often explore human emotion and urban rhythms, revealing layered narratives through brush and medium. Having participated in earlier Academy exhibits such as Impression (in earlier decades), Saha reframes his mature perspectives in the 2025 iteration of the show.

Netai Banik is known for his deft interplay of painting and photography. He merges subtle textures with contemplative minimalism, often achieving a quiet resonance within larger gallery spaces. At Impression, Banik’s compositions drew visitors into intimate reflections on space, color, and light.
